Solid Wood Retro Storage Bookcase

A slim wooden case that does two jobs at once: it holds the books and objects you want on show, and it hides the things you would rather not look at. The proportions are upright and narrow, so it reads as a quiet vertical line in a room rather than a block of furniture. Placed beside a sofa it gives the seating something to lean against, and the grain warms rooms that have gone heavy on white walls and pale floors.

It is made from solid wood, so the surface carries real grain and the edges wear in rather than chip away. Shelves are set at usable heights for books, records, baskets and ceramics, and the closed section keeps cables, remotes, chargers and paperwork out of sight behind a plain front. Three styles are offered, each a different arrangement of open and enclosed space, so you can match display to storage as needed. The finish is left simple and low sheen, which keeps the wood looking like wood.

Use it at the end of a sofa, in a hallway where post and keys collect, in a bedroom as a tall bedside, or in a home office for files and reference books. It pairs naturally with rattan, linen, unglazed pottery and the warm neutral palette Urban Arcadia keeps returning to. It suits anyone working with a small footprint who still wants proper storage, and anyone drawn to retro shapes made in honest materials rather than printed board.
