Lunar Folding Book Light
A book that opens into a moon. Closed, it sits flat on a shelf like a slim hardback; opened out, the pages fan into a glowing sphere printed with a lunar surface, throwing soft light across a bedside table or windowsill. It is the kind of object a child shows visitors, and it works just as well as a quiet piece of evening light in a grown-up's reading corner.
The pages are printed paper set into a folding cover, with low-powered LEDs concealed along the spine so the light appears to come from the moon's surface itself. Three options are available: a steady white light, a warmer amber tone, and a seven-colour version that shifts gently through the range. The fan angle doubles as a dimmer, so open the pages a little for a thin crescent, or all the way round for a full sphere.
It fits a child's bedroom, a nursery shelf, a desk, or a hallway where a small pool of light is enough at night. As a birthday or Christmas present it needs no wrapping beyond a ribbon. Adult supervision is needed when children use it: the paper pages tear, the folding hinge can pinch small fingers, and it should be kept out of reach of babies and toddlers. Keep it away from water and from direct heat.
