Spiral Bud Vase
A small white vase with a spiral running up the body, so the form does the decorating and the flowers can be almost an afterthought. Empty, it reads as a piece of sculpture on a shelf. With three dried stems in it, it looks considered in the way a big arrangement rarely does. The twist catches light along one side and throws a soft shadow down the other, which gives a plain white object more presence than its size suggests.
It is moulded in plastic rather than ceramic, which makes it light, easy to move between rooms and far less nervous on an open shelf or a busy kitchen counter. The white finish is even and matte enough to pass for glazed pottery at arm's length, and the spiral is crisply formed all the way to the rim. The neck is narrow, which is what holds a few stems upright in a fan rather than letting them slump against the sides, and the base is broad enough to stay put.
Use it on a kitchen windowsill, a bedside table, a bathroom shelf or a dining table where a large centrepiece would get in the way. Buy one for a single stem, or take the two pack and group them at different heights, which is how we style them at Urban Arcadia. It suits anyone who keeps dried grasses or faux florals year round, and anyone furnishing a rental who wants shape and softness without spending much.
